Ok so here's the plan...

#1 To make enough terrain to cover a table (which of course is going to vary a bit depending on the size of the table, and the game).

#2 The idea is to make a non descript 'town' (using that word loosely) that can fit as many time periods / games as possible. Also, along the same line, these pieces won't have any real details to it, so you can make the buildings fit what ever look you're going for by how you paint / finish it.

#3 The only material that we'll be using for this is MDF (yes that's going to limit what we can do but you see why in a moment).

#4 Simplicity is the key as well. The other main driving factor here is cost. The new line of terrain will be "Entry Level" terrain, Meaning easy to build and low cost so some who is new to tabletop games, and just spent all their money on figs and rule books can still get terrain as well and not break the bank.

#5 There will be 2 sets our 15mm Entry Level Town and 15mm City Ruins. First we'll get the town handled and then we'll discuss the ruins.

So here's what I have so far. Basically it's just 15mm version of our existing floor plans, a rectangular, 'L', 'T', and a two story rectangular.

Now for that challenge... what other buildings, shapes, etc should we make? We could just do multiples of what we have, but I would rather have more designs.

Oh.. and we'll be adding walls, but they are just going to be real simple like .75 inch high by 2 - 3 inches.

Thoughts?

Sorry I didn't get a chance to get back to this sooner, I got pulled away for another project.

Anyway... Good list GT3000 thanks!

It's given me a few ideas on what to add to this. I'm going to take a look at doing a barn / stable type structure. I'm also going to do a longer version of the single story rectangular floor plan building that could be use as a warehouse or barracks.

The challenge is keeping the design generic enough to fit as wide range of time frames, and genres (ie, on person get's this set and paints it up to look like a tudor town, while the next person paints it to look like 1940's American).

Anyone have any other ideas or thoughts?

For my particular games I prefer flat-roofed, multi-story and split-level buildings, with removable roofs/upper floors. These can be used for any semi-arid setting, small town, etc. Say, no more than three stories tall.

If the alignment of doors matched up, then a simple rectangle and square building can be used to create l-shaped buildings, buildings surrounding an inner court-yard, h-shaped buildings, etc.

What I would most like to see, though, is stairs that can be used both as indoor stairways and fire escapes. Doesn't matter if figures can rest on them or not (like ladders currently). If just the sides of the stairs were done, then we could use card to make the steps which allows various widths then.

I'm working on more thoughts. Need more coffee.

What games are those?

So here's what I came up with for the last 2 buildings

A simple Square building with a high roof
15mm Entry Level Town DSC04412

And a long single story building
15mm Entry Level Town DSC04417

And a very simple wall
15mm Entry Level Town DSC04411

The entire set will consist of:
Two 3.75” by 2.5” single story buildings
Two 3.75” by 2.5” two story buildings

One 3.75” by 3.75” single story building
One 7.5” by 3.75” single story building
One 4.5” by 4.5” single ‘L’ floor plan building
One 4.5” by 4.5” single ‘T’ floor plan building

Ten 3” by .25” Walls

And will be $35 (I still need to figure out international shipping) with Kickstarter Exclusive of pledge for 4 sets ($140) and get 1 one free.

Google Dying Light slums and look at the images, like this one:

Nearly all of the roofs are flat. Perfect zombie hunting ground.
